Sue Woods
13th Assembly District Member
Sue C. Woods has been a Republican activist for over thirty years, starting in Indianapolis as a Goldwater volunteer, Young Republican Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, 1968 Nixon volunteer and precinct committeeman.
Arriving in
San Francisco
in 1969, Sue became active in Young Republicans and assumed leadership roles with various Republican volunteer clubs, including the Golden Gate Republican Assembly and Pacific Heights Republican Women. She was the San Francisco Chairman of Californians for Lower Taxes; the Reagan sponsored ballot measure that was a forerunner for Proposition 13. Sue served on the steering committees for Nixon 1972, and Mike Curb and Dan Lungren's gubernatorial bids. Sue was a Reagan delegate to the 1980 Republican National Convention.
Sue was elected to the San Francisco Republican Party in 1998 and served as Vice Chair of Political Action from 1998 to 2000 and Vice Chair of Events from 2005 to 2006. She was San Francisco Coordinator for John McCain's 2000 Presidential Campaign and was also the San Francisco Chair for Bill Jones for Governor. Sue is an active member of San Francisco County Republican Women Federated and Nob Hill Republican Women Federated
Sue is a poet, whose poem, Poems That Don’t Rhyme was selected as a Critic’s Choice finalist and was published in The International Poetry volume, Timeless Voices. Her poem, Love Scenes, will soon be published in The International Who’s Who in Poetry. Classmates have compared Sue to Dorothy Parker. Her poetry is also published on her blog:
